Fun At Kit Mikay (Best Trip So Far)
This past weekend has been the best weekend ever! We had so much fun at Kit Mikay, a historical rock formation in Kisumu, Kenya that is translated into the rock of God. The bus ride and the entrance fee were relatively inexpensive (below 400 KSH) and we brought our own lunch. It shows that you do not have to spend a fortune to have fun. We did not use a tour guide but a few kids from the neighborhood showed us around and told us the story about how the park got its name. It was difficult finding the right Matatu (public bus) to take us there because there were buses everywhere in the market and we did not know which one to take. People were calling us from left and right telling us to ride in their buses. A man even suggested to drive us there with his car claiming that his car is also called a Matatu, like we couldn’t tell the difference. We finally decided to take a bus that was going toward Kit Mikay and then we took a motorcycle to get to the park.
I have to say that I am very proud of us girls in Kenya. I like that we support each other in everything we do. We planned this trip all by ourselves and we didn’t ask anyone to go there with us. We did ask our host families where to catch the bus and what the fare would cost. I am really glad we decided to go to Kit Micah by ourselves because it made the experience even better.
I highly recommend this trip to future Hestons that are going to Kenya.
